Artist Bettina Hubby and the Santa Monica Museum of Art invite you to a candle-lit and disco-ball activated Dig the Dig Dinner bringing together construction workers, local business owners, and neighbors for a festive meal, music, and performances by local artists. This potluck dinner and communal gathering is a celebration of the Dig the Dig project and the Metro Expo construction taking place adjacent to the Museum in Bergamot Station Arts Center.

Dinner guests will enjoy samples of DIG, a bespoke scent created by The Institute for Art and Olfaction; music from T. Kelly Mason, Soy La Mujer, and Chris Stroffolino; and cocktail artistry by Ivette Soler. Participating artists include Gordon Bowen, Josh Callaghan, Alice Clements, Eve Fowler, Steve Hurd, InflatoCorps, Kristin Beinner James, Adam Janes and Justin Miller, John Knuth, Karen Lofgren, Omar Lopex, Christopher Michlig, The Modeling Agency, Adrian Paules, Nora Jean Petersen, Pat Pickett, Nancy Popp, Olivia Primé, Jim Skuldt, Mike Slack, Mariángeles Soto-Díaz, and Keith Walsh. Additional creative contributions from Fallen Fruit (David Burns and Austin Young), Samo Hurt, Barbara Gillespie, Dave Cull, and Zig.

Dig the Dig is a series of programs inspired by the first stage of a dramatic evolution: the construction of the 26th Street/Bergamot Expo Metro station at the Museum’s doorstep. The new light rail station, which links SMMoA and the Bergamot Station Arts Center district with both downtown Los Angeles and downtown Santa Monica, is scheduled to open in 2016. Work on the site has begun, inaugurating an era of transformation that will include the redevelopment of the arts district and, eventually, a new home for the Museum. Read more
